TV Party Tonight talent on the big screen!
For those who were able to witness the talk show greatness before Houston Media Source was neutered forever, some of your favorite award-winning TV Party Tonight! cast and crew members have two movies screening this week.

Both will screen at the beautiful Alamo Drafthouse in West Oaks Mall.

Frequent TVPT host Raymond Gayle has the excellent documentary Electric Purgatory: The Fate of the Black Rocker tonight at 10:00pm. Only 4 bucks!

Then on Wednesday, the multi-talented TVPT producer and director Mel House premieres Witchcraft 13: Blood Of The Chosen also at 10:00pm. He directed the film and many other TVPT-ers worked on the crew including El Cucuy III, The Mexican Behind The Camera, and packrat(before he was struck down with shingles after the first weekend). There's even a cameo by Robb Zipp! It was filmed almost entirely in Houston! Did I mention it's....FREE!?!?

Come out and support Houston filmmakers!

"THE ROOMMATES"

(1973 d. Arthur Marks) One of the great things about the cinematic golden age of the '60s and '70s is the sheer number of sex- and violence-laden exploitation movies that were made. But as anyone with a passing acquaintance with the films of the era knows, some of them are well, sorta boring. For every mind-blowing, third-eye-cleansing movie like Race With The Devil or Simon, King Of The Witches, there's an equivalently shitty Nurses For Sale or Bury Me An Angel. Fortunately we're at the helm to steer you through these rocky waters. And like any navigator worth his salt, the first thing we look for when embarking on a perilous voyage is the North Star, the great beacon that leads the way. In Weird Wednesday terms, this means Arthur Marks (Bonnie's Kids, Detroit 9000, Friday Foster). If you see the name Arthur Marks in the credits you can pretty much sit back and relax, assured of an evening's worth of prime tasteless entertainment. And that's exactly what Roommates is: titillating sex, shocking violence, and dialogue that would make Shakespeare himself green with envy. We're talking about pure entertainment baby.

"REDNECK"

A.K.A. "Senza ragione"

(1973)

Terror and violence center around the tracking down of jewel thieves, kidnappers and murderers. In Italy, two jewel thieves, Memphis and Mosquito, flee a heist gone sour and grab the nearest car around to escape..., failing to realize its owner's thirteen year old son, Lennox (Mark Lester), is hiding in the backseat. When the boy's presence is finally realized, he chums up with Mosquito, actually grows to like the man. His relationship with Memphis is a bit more complicated, though, this thug a full-fledge psychopath who has "accidentally" murdered a lot of people. Who might Lennox really admire more, and what might be the fate of all of them?

Starring Franco Nero, Telly Savalas and more! Savalas is the cherry on the cake of what may be the most remarkable set piece in all seventies Italian exploitation: calming a tourist family, packing them in their mobile home, then unhooking the trailer and singing a gospel hymn as the terrified Germans plunge into the water.

"THE BLACK SIX"

(1974, d. Matt Cimber, R, 94 min, free) During the golden age of the drive-in there was one genre that could always be counted upon to turn a profit: Biker movies. "Scooter Trash" epics like The Wild Angels, The Born Losers, Satan's Sadists, and of course Easy Rider paid for any number of mansions in Malibu and the Hollywood Hills. The films were inexpensive to produce and were highly appealing to the young, mobility-mad white audiences who frequented drive-ins. Meanwhile across town, movies like Shaft, Superfly, Cool Breeze, Coffy, Candy Tangerine Man and the like were packing 'em in at the 'nabes' or 'neighborhood' theaters. It took an exploitation genius like Matty Cimber to put the two crowds together. And we're glad he did. Be sure to play the Black Six drinking game. Every time you hear the word "honky" take a sip. We'll keep the pitchers coming, don't worry. If you turn out in force for this one maybe we'll book such other biker crossovers as Werewolves on Wheels and The Pink Angels. -Lars

A COP WITH A GUN, A DRINK, AND NO FRIENDS.

Joe Don Baker is Mitchell- a hard-nosed, soft-bellied cop with an affinity for porn and Schlitz. His latest assignment has him engaging in no-speed car chases, yelling at children, shooting innocents and sloppily carousing Linda Evans. This is the original, uncut non-mst3k version. We're showing films here, baby, not video!

"THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE"

A LIVE ACTION HEAP OF FUN!

This film epitomizes Weird Wednesday. Seven disgusting kids but nevertheless of interesting personality are being made of the green mud coming out of the garbage can. Once alive their master gives them rules to obey although they think that life is funnier without following stupid regulations like no television or no candy. Naturally this will cause some conflicts.

"KING FRAT"
A.K.A. "Campus King" A.K.A. "Delta House" A.K.A. "King @$#! Frat"

Frat boys (or is that fart boys?) compete in a farting contest. Set on the quiet campus of Yellowstream University, this comedy follows the rivalries that build between two of the college's fraternities. When they're not mooning everyone they pass and throwing garbage on the lawns of rival frats, the members of the Pi Kappa Delta fraternity are mainly interested in drinking and... well, drinking. When a campus- wide farting contest is announced, Grossout, the leader of the Deltas, is all too eager to stand up, bend over and defend the honor of his fraternity.

This film opened in Seattle at only two drive-ins in 1979. Considered by many to be an ANIMAL HOUSE ripoff. Won’t you join us?

"SUPER DUDE"
A.K.A. "Hangup"

SUPER DUDE... and his SATURDAY NITE SPECIAL... LICENSED TO KILL!

Released in 1974, also known as Hang Up. A ridiculously obscure blaxploitation number. And admittedly a shot in the dark. But isn't this what we're here for? To provide illumination in a darkened world? A single candle shining brightly where there is no light? Can you afford to miss this? When your grandchildren ask you if you've seen SUPER DUDE, will you be able to look them in the eye and say, "Yes I have!" Or will you avert your eyes and gaze wearily at the setting sun, struggling to choke back the tears? Hey, it's your life! I'm sure there are tons of better things to do on a Wednesday night. But as for me, I'll be there. With the huge afros and the racist cops. And the wah wah pedal. And the love. -- Lars

Special note: There are only two prints of this film in existence and it never made it to video, so where else are you going to catch this lost treasure? Forget about all of the imitators in town, there is only one cinema to go to for your B,C & D schlock films, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema!

"DEADLINE"
A.K.A. "Witness in the War Zone"

We at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are pleased to bring you a special treat for this week's Weird Wednesday. A rare 1987 film starring Christopher Walken!

Don Stevens (Walken) is a tough-minded journalist who risks death daily trying to uncover the truth in war torn Lebanon, where right and wrong - and even the enemy - are impossible to identify.

Suddenly, a major story breaks when Stevens is offered an exclusive interview with an elusive leader of the PLO. When the story is released, Stevens realizes he's been set up and tricked into interviewing an imposter who's fed him a pack of lies. With his reputation on the line, Stevens sets out to get the truth.

Following a bloody trail of murder and brutal assassination, he gains access to a terrorist camp, where he learns of a planned attack on hundreds of civilian refugees.

This time his desperate struggle to meet the DEADLINE is a matter of life and death. The story is true, but will anyone listen to an American journalist branded as a troublemaker?

"DON'T GO IN THE HOUSE"
A.K.A. "The Burning"

Released in 1980, this slasher B-flick is full of wanton violence and features a horrendous disco music soundtrack. The plot involves Donny Kohler, your average young man who just happens to have been burned on the stove by his mother every time he was naughty as a child. Until he comes home one day to find his mother has died. Freed from her overbearing clutches, he decides there is only one thing to do. Stalk women and burn them alive with a flamethrower! This is Weird Wednesday schlock at its best!

"YETI: THE GIANT OF THE 20TH CENTURY"
A.K.A. "Yeti - il gigante del 20. secolo" or "Big Foot"

Also known as Ice Man, this film was also released in 1977 (good year for films or what?). I have been told that is quite possibly the worst film we have ever attempted to show on Weird Wednesday, so prepare yourself! Basically a remake of the 1976 Dino De Laurentiis remake of King Kong, this film begins with some actually pretty nifty shots of icebergs and avalanches in Antarctica. Then it gets bad, really fast.

A rich billionaire forces a good natured scientist to resurrect the monster (always a good idea), but for some reason the procedure has to take place in the air in a minature red phone booth (huh?). Of course, the monster revives once it is placed on the ground in front of several spectators and it goes on a rampage. ! You won't believe your eyes when the Yeti uses an elevator as a yo-yo! So low is the budget that the yeti and humans practically never share the same frame. You will laugh, that much is guaranteed!

Hot, hard and mean... Too tough for any man!!! They’ll beat ’em, treat ’em and eat ’em alive!

A group of tough biker babes leave their cycle gang boyfriends and set out on a rampage of violent passions. When a “love cult” guru kills one of their girls, the others go for revenge.

"BUMMER!"

This film was originally supposed to play last month, but due to circumstances beyond our control we had to cancel. A brutal film released in 1972, Bummer deals with the underground world of a rock group, who, ironically enough, call themselves The Group, with special emphasis on their groupies. The manager of a rock band fires the drunken, psycho bass player, who goes on a rape and murder spree. ‘Nuff said, strictly Weird Wednesday material and not for those easily offended. Consider yourself warned.

"KRULL"

Coming straight out of 1983, this fantasy film won the hearts of bad movie fans all over. Starring Liam Neeson in an early role, one that probably has him wishing people like us would just leave it well alone. But that just wouldn’t be proper! So, in true Weird Wednesday fashion, we bring you Krull, a fantasy world of monsters, Cyclops, magic blades and over the top cheesy romanticism.

"THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER"

This is a bonafide cult classic starring Lee Horsley and Richard Moll (yes, Bull the Bailiff from tv’s Night Court) as the 1,000-year-old sorcerer! Add to that the fact that the women don’t seem to worry about clothes unless the temperature demands them and you’ve got a must see Weird Wednesday film! Never have I seen so many swords break like plastic, which coincidentally is what these look like they are made out of. And we’re not talking about Conan the Barbarian styled sword fights; we’re talking you and your older brother in the backyard playing with sticks and plastic Toys’ R’ Us swords. Did I mention the gratuitous amounts of scantily clad women?
